This story reviews “The Heart of the Painted World” in an interesting way. You will love to enjoy it.

In New York, with its endless car noise and twinkling buildings’ light, there was a small apartment on the upper floor of an old grey house. In her mosquito netted bed, in a room full of books and half-painted canvases lived a young lady who went by the name of Sophie Collins.

Climax

Sophie was only twenty-eight, but she was still a poor painter with no hopes of becoming a famous artist and exhibiting her works in galleries. However her strength never faded, she continued to fight for what she held dear, her passion for her creations.

Sophie’s small studio was full of the sounds of her reverie and such reverie entwined with an abundance of ‘cute’ objects made her believe in nice dreams. On the walls hung paintings, warm and full of life, on every one of them emotions seemed to resonate.

Her last painting was a large piece; it was an abstraction of a symphony, which had preoccupied her in the recent past. Although the painting is rather sunny and energetic because of the presence of such shades and clear distinguishing lines, something seems to be lacking.

The Beginning

It was mid-October, on another freezing evening, when Sophie sat at the desk lit by the pleasantly warm light of a table lamp, her train of thought was suddenly broken by the ringing noise of the phone. A call was from her long-time friend, Clara. Clara had recently relocated to a very busy city in the other part of the country and was calling to give us some important news.

“Sophie! You wouldn’t recognize it! I am coming to New York for like 3 days and I was thinking whether it would be possible for us to meet” exclaimed Clara.

Sophie smiled when she heard the voice of her friend she had just talked to. “That would be great, Clara. I was just thinking that we could go out to dinner tomorrow night and I would like to hear all about your new life. ”

As Sophie put down the phone without saying another word she found herself perturbed though she noticed a bit of thrill. For a long time, Clara was absent from her life and the thought of seeing her again was a welcome break as she moved away from striving for the perfect painting.

The Reunion

The following evening when the lights started twinkling in the strengthening dark, Sophie got to Greenwich Village to a quiet little restaurant which was barely lit. It was as traditional and cosy as it could be, the food was exquisite as well, and it would indeed be the best place for a reunion.

Clara was already there when he got there. She was sitting at a small table just by the window. A smile immediately spread across the face of the girl as she was able to see Sophie come into the room. Clara was slender and tall with beautiful long auburn hair and warm brown eyes; in a word, she looked graceful.

”Hey, Sophie!” Called Clara waving her hand.

The Culture

Sophie walked toward the table and the two friends shook hands or hugged as European culture would not allow them to kiss on the cheeks like they are used in Asia. It felt like years rolled down and they freely began their conversation.

”I am glad to see you,” replied Clara with affection colouring her eyes. Thus, he could only say, with a grin, two of his favourite phrases, namely, “You look amazing” and “I love this place. ”

Sophie smiled. “I think it’s been a while right? I do miss the conversations we used to have on the phone “Are you up in the West alive well?”

The experience

Clara sighed contentedly. “It has been quite an experience. I’m currently working in a small art gallery and even get to choose some great pieces for the next shows. “After Harvey’s experience, please let me know about your art. Well, how is that symphony getting on?

Sophie’s face brightened. “Oh, have you seen my latest work? I just said it had been very tough, but I am almost done with it; for some reason, it still feels incomplete. ”

When they carried on with the conversation, Clara saw that there was irritation in Sophie’s face now and again. This may require a fresh view Perhaps discussing it out may well solve anything.

Sophie nodded. “Yeah, probably you’re right. It has been quite hard to handle all of it these days. But I am glad that you are here. ”

Their friendship developed strongly and, when night fell, they started to speak openly, telling each other about their lives after they arrived in America; Clara heard from Sophie’s art difficulties and her little successes. Lastly, the night ended with a word that they should meet more frequently.

The Chance Encounter

A few days later Sophie went to call off her art through Central Park and when she got there she saw a man playing a violin with a beautiful piece of music. The music was sad and it reminded her of the feelings which she had failed to put in her paintings like sadness.

The Musician

Holding her hand firmly Sophie got closer to the musician, a young man with a rather stern look on his face and dark, unruly hair. He played with what can only be described as vigour and the crowd of people that gathered were rather few but avid listeners. Sophie was able to sit on the bench close to him and watch the scene with bated breath.

After that, the youthful man put his equipment back into a bag when the tunes ceased. Due to the compelling performance that Sophie could not resist, she went up to him. “Wow, it was very good you have a natural talent there. ”

Much to the musician’s look of surprise, he looked up. Thank you. Nice to meet you. I am Daniel. I have been playing here for several years. ”

Sophie introduced herself. Hi, my name is Sophie I am an artist, Your song seemed to concern some of the things I depicted in my art.

In response, there was excitement in the eyes of Daniel as they made proper eye contact. “Oh really? I would like to know more about your artwork. Music and art are very much connected aren’t they?”

Sophie agreed. “Yes, it can. I think that we can safely say that music is one of the key elements that can affect art. ” It was rather interesting to watch how the two can enhance each other.

A Professional Violist

People kept on talking and so Sophie got to know that Daniel was a professional violinist who wanted to play music in its purest form because of this opportunity he got. They got along well and talked about how they found art and music with `niche’ themes interesting and how the two disciplines could support each other.

The next morning when they met again, and observed that the day had begun with the sweet light of the sun and there was no sign of rain, Dan said to her, “I am performing at a café tomorrow in the evening, why don’t you come to watch me perform?”

Sophie smiled. ”I would like to. It seems like it could be the best way to follow through with our discussion. ”

The Café Performance

The next evening, Sophie got herself to the small Café in which Daniel was scheduled to perform. The place was cosy; everything including the lighting was low to give a live band feel to the place.

Daniel’s performance was mesmerising. How the gentlemen played looked passionate and Sophie suddenly felt ideas filling her up in a way she could not understand. After the last chord slowly faded away, Daniel got off the improvised stage and sat down next to Sophie.

Time Expectation

“I hope you enjoyed it,” Daniel said, his eyes showing a sense of fear and at the same time expectation.

Sophie followed with a nod and there was excitement in her words. “It was great, dear. The music is so deep It’s motivated me in ways that I couldn’t imagine. Kindly”.

Daniel seemed pleased. I’m glad to hear that, music can provoke a lot of ideas, sometimes it is just about tuning into the right frequency.

The Emotion

Later on, Sophie and Daniel got to know each other and by sharing their stories, they found out that they are similar in many aspects. Their discussions exposed them to their areas of interest and how both of them could express and embrace emotions in their projects. The more they talk, the more they discover how similar they are.

The night concluded with an assurance of carrying on with the debates they had as well as encouraging one another in their artistic pursuits. Sophie went out of the café feeling rather inspired and energised with the feeling that hope, in the form of at least one soul mate, was still alive.

The Artistic Collaboration

As days went on, Sophie and Daniel started being on good terms with each other. This led to increased interactions as they continued working on their pieces, and discussing what they did and what they saw in each other’s work. Sophie got drawn towards the music produced by Daniel and on the same note, Daniel got attracted to the paintings done by Sophie.

One afternoon, as Daniel and Sophie were working in the studio, the former was playing a new composition which he had been writing on. The melody was sad and lovely which was perfect for painting and Sophie thought she could paint with it.

The Middle

‘You know my music has added a different dimension to what I do’, Sophie added, she was still looking at the canvas. Somehow the colours and shapes appear as if they are alive reacting to the sounds of the rhythms created by the music.

Daniel smiled. “I’m glad. At times, it is not about talking but expressing through art and music, and I’ve got such joy in witnessing how much our work affects each other. ”

The Synchrony

Their synchrony materialised in the form of several combined efforts—painting based on Daniel’s music and music based on Sophie’s artworks, Their synergy generated an interesting and exciting body of work that gradually began to draw the fire of regional galleries and music venues.

With success in their professional front, eventually, their romantic interest was also set on flame. In particular, they devoted evenings to walking and wandering through the city, visiting Art exhibitions and concerts and other things, of course, being alone together. The two got along well and advanced into a passionate romantic relationship.

The Turning Point

With time their business prospered and their connection heightened, nevertheless, Sophie had those moments of insecurity. Her work of symphony painting, which had been her most preferred type of painting, was still a raw subject to her.

It was the one thing that they shared which she had invested her effort and soul into yet it did not yield to her.

Sophie was once painting and barely managing to finish a room one evening she sat back in her studio and looked at the painting. Daniel felt that she was frustrated and decided to visit her. He caught her staring before her, with a look of relief, frustration and despair painted on her beautiful face.

“What is it?” A gentler man than Daniel would have scarcely pronounced those words.

A Limb

Sophie let out a deep breath, her tone jogging from the previous cheerful to somewhat morose. It’s like I am wasting my time more so with this painting – my symphony… where is my masterpiece???? it seems incomplete… as if I am lacking a limb.

He looked into her eyes and took her arm gently and said, ‘I understand’ and held her hand. “Perhaps what you are in search of is what has been in existence all along within you. Often, people spend a lot of time searching for answers that are actually in front of them. ”

Sophie stared him directly in the eyes, gratitude and vulnerability evident in her eyes. “What do you mean?”

Daniel smiled softly. At other times, it is when we do not restrain ourselves and just follow our inner feelings and hearts that true art emerges. If you’ve done all of these, then trust the process and just give in to the art.

Her Strategy

It is as Daniel said, and Sophie decided to change her strategy and start the painting over. Over time, she had to try new approaches and new shades which meant that she worked more by inspiration rather than by scheme.

In the process, she discovered that the painting gradually started manifesting itself in other ways that she had not envisaged. The once sought-after symphony started composing the physicality of the work that reflected the emotions she was trying to convey. He made it appear that through music she has discovered a new facet of herself that she can explore through her art.

The Revelation

One evening, Sophie was putting the last touches on her painting and then Daniel came to her studio. He looked at the figures that he had painted for the day with sheer admiration in his eyes.

He looked at me amazed, “This is amazing, Sophie, it is like the painting has its pulsation. ”

Smiling, blushing and full of pride Sophie felt that she accomplished something significant. From the movie: ‘Daniel: You are welcome Mary. Thanks for letting me have an opportunity to help you. You know there is nothing that I could have done anywhere else as I have done it here

A Warm Smile

Daniel took her hand and looked at her gently. Both of us evolved throughout this process, and I think that our art helped us become friends. I will say that we are close now.

They both looked at each other then Sophie had a warm smile on her lips, love and appreciation shining in her eyes. ”I’d love to. I have also been saying that our relationship has not only been a working partnership, it has been a wonderful journey”.

When they embraced they felt the light of the studio was a golden light, which appeared to be the light of the creative partnership they saw in one another. It was rather at that point that a couple comprehended that objectives of love and additional objectives of art are interrelated in a manner that cannot be comprehended separately from one’s singular vocation.

The Exhibition

With the commissioned symphony painting, Sophie and Daniel planned and agreed to do a combined art exhibition to present some of the art pieces that they made together which was a marker of their growth in art. The event was held at a well-established gallery, and the launch of the art gallery was a success.

Daniel played magnificent music that indeed set the pace with the art and the warm and happy colours of the gallery. Audiences were amazed by the relationship between art and music, and the success of the exhibition was praised by critics and audiences.

The Admirers

As it came time to count the stars and the bell slapped the night, Sophie and Daniel took their positions surrounded by friends, family, and admirers. Clara, who had arrived by flight for the occasion, moved close to them and offered them a very broad smile.

“You two are amazing, the film that you have made is simply magical,” Clara told them, and hugged both of them. She got up from the bed speaking these words, “I’m so proud of you. ”

Sophie and Daniel exchanged that look of satisfaction and happiness which can only come after the climax of the best bed story. Slowly and steadily they had worked hard for this day and their love for each other was blossoming and becoming a strength.

The Balcony

At that moment Sophie and Daniel stepped aside from the rest and closed their eyes, letting their minds ponder on what they had done that day. They were still standing on the balcony of the gallery, watching how the city ventured into the night and glittering.

‘It has been wonderful, a beautiful experience,’ joined Daniel and his words were charged with passion and raw emotion.

Sophie just nodded and the glint in her eyes was a sign of the love she had for him. ‘It has, I could never have thought that this is the way my life was going to turn out and I’m so glad I’ve known you and shared all these things with you. ’

Love and Talent

Separating the couples’ proved a popular winner indicating that their love and talent in the competition was not something one could manufacture, but something worth fighting for. This not only affected each of their individual goals and dreams but also helped them create a strong bond.

But although the noise of the traffic never stops and the lights of skyscrapers never go off, within Sophie and Daniel, two strangers with two completely different lives, a symphony of love and creativity has bloomed. It was a beautiful fairy tale of art and music; of love which prevailed even through death.

Conclusion

Standing there they realised that they still had a long way to go And so as they gazed out to the skyline of the city that was illuminated by moonlight they continued their journey.

That way they would keep on discovering that there are so many fields of interest that merge perfectly thus creating and inspiring as they walk into the future hand in hand.

But in the stillness of the dreams that they both had, they would always know happiness and contentment in the music of their love. Apart from the story: The Heart of the Painted World’,   more exciting love stories can be read here.
